Officials in Veneto and Lombardy canceled public events in Venice and Milan on 23 February, including putting a stop to the last two days of Carnevale. The ban on public gatherings extended to sporting events and theaters, including La Fenice. The ban was put in place through 1 March 2020.
The Duomo in Milan reopened on 28 February 2020. Officials have announced that all public places will reopen on 2 March and the ban will not be renewed.
All public museums and tourist sites will be open in Italy from Monday. However, theaters in Lombardy and Veneto will remain closed – including La Scala.
The four Serie A soccer matches that were canceled this weekend have now been rescheduled for May.
