Italian Prime Minister Believes “the worst is behind us”

This week, Italy reopened businesses and allowed the general public to be out of their homes without a necessary government form. The gradual easing of restrictions is expected to continue in early June when Italy reopens its borders to the EU.

Addressing the Lower House to update the government on the progress of Phase 2, Giuseppe Conte stated that the worst of the crisis had passed and this was thanks to citizens who had changed their lifestyles.

He cautioned, however, that this was not the time for parties and expressed concern over reports of young people gathering in nightlife hotspots in many cities.
