On Friday, Italy reported the greatest number of new coronavirus cases in the world, as well as 49 deaths. The country has now confirmed over 4,600 positive cases and 197 deaths.
On Friday, officials reported 778 new cases, bringing the country all-time total to 4,636. The increase in Italy was the highest in any country in the world for that day.
Italy now has 3,916 active cases of COVID-19 infection, including two newborns. Positives have now been confirmed in all of Italy’s 20 regions, though the three regions of Lombardy, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna in the north of the country remain the hardest hit.
