According to sources who spoke with Italy’s ANSA news agency, the country’s gradual reopening will depend on the region.
It is expected that Phase II will begin after the official nation-wide lockdown expires on May 3rd. However, Phase II restrictions will depend on the region. Italy will likely be split in three, with different rules and regulations for the north, center, and south.
The recommendation to divide the country and the rules comes because the regions have experienced different levels of infection, with the North experiencing the highest rates of positives and resulting deaths. The rules will then be revised, by region, every 15 days.
