May 7: Coronavirus Situation Update in Italy – Cases Falling

The pressure on Italy’s health system continues to decrease as the country sees small gains in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

As of May 7, 215,858 have contracted the virus in Italy. This is an increase of 1,401 new cases since yesterday. There are currently 89,624 positive cases in the country, which is a decrease of 1,904 in 24 hours.

There are 1,311 patients in the ICU, 22 less than yesterday. 15,174 others remain hospitalized in less critical condition, a fall of 595 since Wednesday.

The death toll in the last 24 hours reached 274, bringing the total number of victims to 29,958. 3,031 people recovered over the same one day period.
