Rome Has First Coronavirus Case: Policeman Positive

According to ANSA, Italy’s news service, Rome has its first positive coronavirus case since two tourists from Wuhan tested positive in early February. The positive case a police officer who has now been admitted to the specialty Spallanzani Hospital, which is handling the first cases of the infectious disease in the capital.

Health officials are recreating the man’s movements and contacts. They have established that he may have been infected after meeting a friend from Lombardy.

The police officer’s son has also tested positive which has led to the closure of his school in Pomezia, south of the capital. Other family members are also being tested and monitored.
